As we confess our sins daily the redeeming blood of Jesus cleanses us, giving us access to the fellowship of God.

When John speaks of eternal life, he is not referring to life that lasts forever; he is talking about the very life of God, to which we are invited.

Christ's propitiation for our sins is perpetual, and so we are His beloved children.
